Tim Wheeler and Mark Hamilton formed Ash in County Down, Northern Ireland, in the summer of 1992, and it was four years later that they gained both commercial and critical acclaim with their most successful album to date, 1977. Spawning such hits as “Goldfinger” and “Girl From Mars” the record was widely welcomed as a new dawn for British rock.
