An original litho-printed Oasis poster for Wonderwall

“Wonderwall” is still regarded as Oasis' greatest song; it was written by Noel Gallagher for the band’s second album: (What’s the Story) Morning Glory and released in October 1995.

The track was released as the third single from the (What’s the Story) Morning Glory album in October 1995 and topped the chart in Australia, New Zealand, and Spain reaching the top ten on another ten charts, including Canada and the US at number 5 and 8, respectively. It also reached number two on both the UK Singles Chart and Irish Singles Chart. The track went platinum as certified by the BPI and gold by the RIA of America.

Noel Gallagher told NME in 1996, the track was written for Meg Mathews, his girlfriend at the time, however, after they divorced in 2001, Noel said the song was not about Mathews: 'The media jumped on it, citing it as one he had written for Meg - how do you tell your Missus that it's not about her once she thinks it is? Wonderwall is about an imaginary friend who's gonna save you from yourself.
