Government Commissions is a BBC Sessions compilation album by Scottish ‘post rock ‘band Mogwai released in 2005, consisting of recording sessions for BBC Radio from 1996 – 2003.

Mogwai were formed by Stuart Braithwaite in Glasgow in 1995, since then the band have released 10 studio albums with 2021’s ‘As the Love Continues’ reaching No 1 in the UK album charts, 25 years after the release of their debut single. This was Mogwai’s first No1 album also being crowned ‘Scottish Album of the Year at the SAY Awards and receiving a Mercury Prize nomination.

Other career highlights include 2 Top 10 Albums, Rave Tapes (2014) and 2017’s Country Sun, Mogwai’s highest charting single was 2006’s Friends of the Night reaching no 38. The band have also scored soundtracks for film and television including documentary film Zidane and Amazon Prime series ZeroZeroZero., Mogwai have also picked up an NME award for Live Act of the Year.
