A Pessimist is Never Disappointed was a single released from the debut album from The Audience released on 17 August 1998 and reaching 22 on the UK Albums Chart. Featuring now-solo artist Sophie Ellis-Bextor on lead vocals, four singles were released from the album. "I Got the Wherewithal" released in October 1997, "If You Can't Do It When You're Young; When Can You Do It?" released in February 1998, "A Pessimist Is Never Disappointed" released in May 1998 and "I Know Enough (I Don't Get Enough)" was released in July 1998.
A Pessimist is Never Disappointed featured on The In betweeners, a British sitcom originally aired between 2008 to 2010. The show followed the life of
suburban teenager Will McKenzie (Simon Bird) and his three friends at Rudge Park Comprehensive.
The vinyl edition of the album was limited to 1,500 copies, and was pressed as a limited edition on glittery vinyl. This poster from 1998 is an original promo poster as used in Record stores and is available in limited numbers only as 'new old stock' produced at the time.
